North Shelby Tournament Final Round Results

Friday and Saturday nights featured 4 games each.

In Friday night's 7th place boys game, Atlanta got off to a quick start and jumped out to a 15-8 lead over Brashear at the end of the 1st quarter, but Brashear stormed back and went into halftime with a 28-24 lead. By the end of the 3rd quarter, Brashear held a slim 39-38 lead and maintained a lead in the 4th despite a last minute rally. As the clock ticked down to zero, Atlanta was able to get off a desperation shot that would have tied the game, but Brashear held on for the 49-46 win. For Brashear, Trae Treasure had 13 points, Kiley Watson had 12, Justin Hazen had 9, Matt Thomas and Kale Watson scored 7 each, and Ryan Ferdig scored 1 point. Atlanta was led by Zeke Garnett with 18, Javaun West added 12, Jamill Teter had 6, Cody Miller had 5, Jeremy Teter added 3, and Nathaniel Lush scored 2 points.

In Saturday night's 3rd place girls game, Brashear got on the board first, but LaPlata led 6-4 after 1 quarter and 18 to 15 at the half. Brashear held a slim 29-28 lead after 3 quarters, but were unable to hold the lead as 2 starters ended the game on the bench after fouling out during the 4th quarter. LaPlata edged the Lady Tigers 41-40 to take third place. Brashear scorers were Christina Scudder with 16 points, Stephanie Elsea had 10, Hailee Kelsey and Caroline Slavin scored 4 points each, Abby McKim had 3, Emily Ladwig had 2, and Jessi Hill scored 1 point. For LaPlata, Justine Bane had 11 points, Gara Curtis and Emily Snodgrass had 8 points each, Kelcey Williams had 7, Jeana Bane had 4, and Laura Tuggle had 3 points.

In other Friday night action, the Atlanta girls beat North Shelby 50-42 for 7th place, Scotland County girls defeated Marion County 37-29 for consolation, and the North Shelby boys beat Scotland County 43-32 for consolation.

In other Saturday games, the Schuyler County girls beat Knox County 56-46 for 1st place, the LaPlata boys beat Marion County 53-43 for 1st place, and the Knox County boys edged Schuyler County 58-54 for 3rd place.
